Using the Decisions Log
Capture what was decided, when, by whom, and why
The Decisions Log is one of the most underrated features in Crewie. It captures what was decided, when, by whom, and — crucially — why. Six months later, when someone asks "why did we do it this way?", the answer is already there.
Why this matters
The biggest source of team confusion isn't missing information. It's missing context. Decisions get made in meetings, communicated in Slack threads, and forgotten within weeks. New team members have no idea why things are the way they are. The Decisions Log fixes this permanently.
How to log a decision
- Open your Workcrew
- Go to the Decisions tab
- Click "Log a Decision"
- Fill in:
- The decision made
- The date
- Who made it
- The rationale — why this, why now
- Any alternatives that were considered
- Save
Best practices
- Log decisions as they're made, not after the fact. The rationale is freshest in the moment.
- Include what you decided NOT to do and why — this is often more valuable than what you did decide.
- Link decisions to relevant projects or tasks so there's a clear trail from decision to action.
- Review your Decisions Log during retrospectives — it's a powerful way to learn from past choices.
Who can see decisions
Decisions are visible to all members of the Workcrew they're logged in. They're not visible to members of other Workcrews unless they're also members of that crew.
